Governing Board/Queen Creek Unified School District Declares Governing Board Vacancy

Queen Creek Unified School District declares a vacancy on our five-member governing board.

The district is seeking applicants who are interested in being appointed to fill the unexpired term of James Knox, which will expire on December 31, 2026.  Mr. Knox resigned on January 7, 2025. Mr. Knox’s resignation letter has been submitted to the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools and the following process has been shared with the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools Office on January 8 2025. Application packets will be available beginning on January 10, 2025.

To be considered for nomination, a candidate must:

  • Provide proof of current voter registration,
  • Provide proof of at least one year living in the district,
  • Provide a signed, notarized affidavit of qualification for nomination,
  • Provide additional written information as outlined in the packet, in accordance with the Maricopa County School Superintendent’s appointment process.

Application Process Timeline:

  • January 10, 2025: Application packets available at the District Office, 20217 East Chandler Heights Road, Queen Creek, AZ  85142.
  • January 17, 2025: Deadline for submitting applications at 4:00 p.m. to the governing board secretary.
  • January 28, 2025: District orientation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • February 5, 2025:  District collaboration team interviews the applicants.
  • February 6, 2025: District collaboration team recommends three nominees to the county superintendent of schools.
  • TBD: Appointee announced by the county superintendent of schools.
  • TBD: Oath of office administered by the county superintendent of schools.
