Student Superintendent Advisory Committee

The Student Superintendent Advisory Committee meets twice a year to provide students with insights into the district's behind-the-scenes operations. This event offers a chance for students to engage with departments that keep the district running smoothly, such as child nutrition, transportation, and maintenance.
These behind-the-scenes departments play an important role in ensuring the success of the schools, but students don’t always get to witness their impact firsthand. By highlighting these departments, students grow an understanding and appreciation for the efforts that often go unnoticed.
This event not only gives students the chance to learn about district operations but also allows Superintendent Dr. Berry to gain insight into what’s happening at school sites from the student's perspective.
During the event, students participate in an activity where they highlight positive aspects of their campus and identify areas for improvement. This helps Dr. Berry better understand the needs from a student perspective.
“I always like to give students a level of appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes, and it's just a great opportunity to get to know some of our outstanding kids in our schools and it's one of my favorite days of the year,” states Superintendent Dr. Berry.
Jennica R., a sophomore at Crismon High School, expressed her goals for the committee meeting. “I’m hoping to learn teamwork and work with my acquaintances to help our school and build a better foundation for our school.”
Another student, Alonzo O., a 4th grader at Frances Brandon-Pickett Elementary, was thrilled to be selected to join the Superintendent Advisory Committee based on his involvement with the LOL Club.”
The Student Superintendent Advisory Committee continues to inspire students to appreciate behind-the-scenes efforts that make their educational experience possible.
