Mathematics

The Queen Creek Unified School District dedicates ourselves to developing critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills students need to be successful in today’s technology-driven world. This begins with highly qualified teachers and a rigorous curriculum that aligns with the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards. We support our teachers through cognitive coaching and professional development so that they stay current on instructional strategies to guide students in their mathematical thinking.

In QCUSD math classrooms, students are engaged in hands-on learning activities that encourage collaborative discussions about strategies for solving math problems and utilization of the Standards for Mathematical Practices to further increase content understanding. In order to meet the individual needs of our students, teachers collect and analyze data to monitor students’ progress using the mastery learning model.

At the junior high level, students on an accelerated learning path have the opportunity to enroll in Algebra 1 during their eighth-grade year. Students who successfully meet the course requirements will earn high school elective credit. Additionally, our high school students can earn college credit through our dual enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
