Queen Creek High School Turf Project Complete

Ribbon-cutting ceremony

Queen Creek High School proudly unveiled its brand-new, state-of-the-art turf field on Wednesday, April 23, marking a significant investment in student wellness, athletic excellence, and environmental sustainability. The project was made possible through the support of the **Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA)** and in partnership with Orcutt Winslow, Chasse Building Team, and Fusebox.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, district leaders were joined by Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) Governing Board members, Principal Scott Lovely, the Queen Creek High School band, and several student-athletes and teams who will benefit from the new field for years to come.

“This field represents so much more than an athletic upgrade—it’s an investment in our students, our environment, and our future,” said QCUSD superintendent, Dr. Perry Berry. “We’re grateful to all of our partners who helped make it happen.”

The project is designed with long-term water conservation and sustainability in mind. Key highlights include:

  • **280 to 420 acre-feet of water** conserved over the next 25 years
  • **Cost per acre-foot saved** estimated at **$6,429–$9,643**
  • **Reduction in groundwater usage, herbicide runoff,** and **maintenance costs**
  • Calculations and planning support provided by sustainability consultants at **Fusebox**

Awarded in May 2024, the WIFA grant enabled Queen Creek Unified School District to take a major step forward in aligning facilities upgrades with smart, eco-conscious solutions. The new field will serve as a hub for athletic events, marching band performances, and community gatherings for decades to come.

"This new turf field is a shining example of what can be accomplished through thoughtful planning and strong partnerships," said **Samantha Davis, QCUSD Governing Board president. "We are committed to building a school district that prioritizes both student experience and environmental responsibility—and today’s celebration reflects that vision in action."
