Starting at a new school can feel overwhelming, but Crismon High School is making sure that every incoming seventh-grader and freshman begins the year with confidence and a strong sense of belonging.
During orientation, students were welcomed by Crismon’s Link Crew, a team of dedicated upperclassmen who serve as mentors, guides, and friendly faces throughout the school year. Through campus tours, icebreakers, team-building activities, and interactive games, Link Crew helps students become comfortable in their new surroundings and build friendships before the first day of school.
“Our goal is to build a positive culture of kindness and make sure every student feels welcome,” said Link Crew sponsor and English teacher Marty Edwards. “We want students to leave orientation knowing people they can turn to, whether they need help finding a classroom or simply someone to sit with at lunch.”
Link Crew continues to mentor students throughout the year with study sessions, academic support, social events and opportunities to connect with upperclassmen who are invested in their success.
For Link Crew member Olivia G., giving back is one of the most rewarding parts of the program.
“When I was new, it was hard,” she said. “Now I get to help students feel more comfortable and show them they’re not alone.”
As students explored the campus, they also discovered the many opportunities waiting for them at Crismon High School. From athletics and fine arts to career and technical education, clubs and leadership programs, there is a place for every student to get involved, discover new interests and build lasting friendships.
Combined with caring teachers, supportive mentors and a welcoming campus culture, Crismon High School is committed to providing a safe learning environment where every student feels seen, supported and ready to thrive. More than just a school tour, orientation serves as the first step in helping every student feel at home.
