Julius Bradley School Connect Student Champion Award (K–6) Winner

At Silver Valley Elementary School, student Julius Bradley is proving that leadership is more than a way of life. Recently recognized with the Student Champion Award (K–6) by School Connect, Julius has earned attention for his compassion, initiative, and commitment to making a difference.

“To me, leadership is an example,” Julius shared. “Just because you have the title of a leader doesn’t mean that you are a leader. You really have to show it by being a role model and setting an example for others.” This mindset has guided Julius throughout his leadership journey,
shaping how he interacts with his peers and community.

Julius believes leadership is rooted in inclusion and impact. “Everybody should have the chance to learn and really get out there and find their own place,” he said. “I seek impact. It’s not always about popularity. It’s about the impact that you make on people.” He is especially passionate about making sure others feel seen and heard. “Some people might not be able to be heard because they might be shy or quiet, but I want everybody to know that they’re heard and there’s always someone out there for them.”

Inspired by a desire to help those in need, Julius has taken action through service projects. “I see people giving out to the homeless or people in need, which really gives me inspiration,” he explained. Partnering with friends, Julius helped create care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness. “Whenever I see someone homeless on the side of the road, I always give them one of the packages,” he said. In another effort, Julius and his friends organized a lemonade stand at a local park, raising nearly $200 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

For Julius, leadership also means staying grounded. “I think humility really means being yourself,” he said. “You don’t want to try to be someone that you aren’t. Whether that’s being funny, kind, or honest, just be true to yourself.”

His passion for helping others continues to drive him forward. “I have a heartwarming feeling when I help or give,” Julius shared. “There’s always someone in need that needs guidance and someone to be there for them.” He also expressed gratitude for the support system that has shaped him. “All of my teachers, especially my parents and my principals, they’ve all set an example for me. That’s how I became who I am today.”

Through his actions and words, Julius Bradley is redefining what it means to be a young leader, one act of kindness at a time.
