QCHS Student Keegan Roque Wins President's Gold Volunteer Service Award

Keegan Roque holds his President's Gold Volunteer Service Award and wears his medal

Queen Creek High School student Keegan Roque has earned the President's Gold Volunteer Service Award, which is awarded to individuals whose service makes a meaningful difference in their community and inspires others to get involved. Keegan’s dedication to service is evident by the 100 hours he devoted to volunteering, all in support of the Queen Creek community.

As a member of the wrestling team, Keegan was able to volunteer and coach younger kids who were new to wrestling and teach them the basics of the sport. He also volunteered at an assisted living home, befriending the folks living there and socializing with them. "I loved helping out at that assisted living home," Keegan shared. "The people there were very nice, and it just felt good to help out wherever I was needed."

Mrs. Fuhrman, a QCHS nurse, had previously helped her own son earn this award and knew how it would stand out on college applications. "Her son is going to the same college I want to go to Norwich University in Vermont, a military school.” Mrs. Fuhman explained how this award benefited her son.

"The President Award will help me get into Norwich because it showcases commitment to your community." Keegan noted. He highlighted how volunteering for his community “feels good” knowing that he is making a positive impact on others.

Keegan’s story exemplifies the commitment to service that QCUSD encourages. Thanks to amazing staff and teachers, students like Keegan can pursue their goals with confidence. Congratulations to Keegan Roque for his achievement, and thank you to the dedicated QCUSD staff who contribute to students' success.
