Over the summer, the Queen Creek Unified School District announced that Elyse Torbert will be the principal of the district's third high school.

Mrs. Torbert has extensive experience at the high school level in a variety of settings and has been a high school principal,” said Superintendent Perry Berry. “We feel Elyse is an excellent choice to open our third high school.”

Mrs. Torbert has more than 20 years of experience in public education. Prior to moving to Arizona in 2017 to be closer to family, Mrs. Torbert lived in Massachusetts where she worked at two large urban-suburban high schools just west of Boston. She has taught both math and English, has been a director for a tiered intervention program supporting at-risk students, and served as a vice-principal, associate principal, and principal.

“Opening another high school is exciting and I look forward to building upon the success already achieved by Queen Creek High and Eastmark High,” said Mrs. Torbert.

Serving as an educator comes naturally for Mrs. Torbert as her mother was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist. Elyse and her husband have two children.

The new high school is set to open in July 2022.
