Superintendent Advisory Council Gets a Hands-On Look at Queen Creek Unified School District

Advisory Council

Students on the Superintendent Advisory Council stepped beyond the classroom to gain a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run a school district during a hands-on learning experience across the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD).

Accompanied by Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry, council members visited several key district locations, learning how departments work together to support schools, staff, and students each day. From operations and logistics to planning and support services, students saw firsthand the teamwork and problem-solving required to keep a large district running smoothly.

The experience allowed students to ask questions, make connections, and better understand how decisions are made at the district level. For many, it was an eye-opening opportunity to see the real-world impact of leadership, collaboration, and communication.

The day concluded back at the district office with a student-favorite activity, a cafeteria food taste test. Students sampled potential new menu items and voted on their favorites, giving direct input on meals that may soon be served in QCUSD schools.

“I didn’t realize how many people and steps it takes to make our schools work every day,” said one sixth-grade student. “It made me feel important knowing our opinions actually matter.”

The visit reinforced QCUSD’s commitment to student voice, leadership development, and meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
