Silver Valley Elementary has been named an A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation, a prestigious recognition that highlights the school’s unwavering commitment to student success, strong systems, and a thriving culture of leadership.

Being named an A+ School of Excellence represents years of intentional work and reflection across the Silver Valley community. This recognition is not the result of one individual’s efforts, but rather the collective dedication of a united team that shows up every day focused on growth, collaboration, and doing what is best for students. It reflects a school culture grounded in honest conversations, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility.

The designation speaks to more than strong academic performance. At Silver Valley, clear goals are set and supported with purposeful systems. The school does not wait for success to happen—it creates it. By establishing measurable targets, such as increasing math proficiency by 5% and ELA by 2%, and building structures to support those goals, continuous improvement has become part of the school’s identity.

A key part of Silver Valley’s success is its Lighthouse Leader in Me culture. Leadership is not an add-on; it is embedded in daily practice. Students, teachers, and teams lead with ownership and accountability, visible in classrooms, hallways, and conversations throughout the campus. This shared leadership model strengthens both academic outcomes and school culture.

Several specific practices played a major role in earning the A+ designation. Data-driven instruction is at the forefront, with WIN time, targeted small groups, and weekly PLC conversations allowing teachers to adjust instruction in real time. Flexible grouping ensures
students are met where they are and supported in moving forward.

Protecting instructional time and emphasizing academic vocabulary and deep understanding have also been critical. Lessons are purposeful and engaging from bell to bell, with a focus on understanding the “why,” not just the “how.” Teachers consistently use checks for understanding, asking students to explain their thinking, compare strategies, and learn from mistakes—strengthening reasoning and confidence across grade levels.

Equally important is the school’s focus on organizational health. When data revealed areas for growth, leadership clarified decision-making structures, strengthened leadership capacity, and fostered greater autonomy and interdependence among staff. Strong systems, in turn, support strong instruction.

This recognition belongs to the entire Silver Valley community. Teachers and staff are reflective and solution-oriented. Students take ownership of their learning, track progress, and lead with confidence. Families partner closely with the school, supporting learning and trusting the process.

While the A+ recognition is a point of pride, it is not a finish line—it is fuel. Silver Valley Elementary will continue to grow, refine, and lead with purpose, climbing higher together.
