Queen Creek Unified School District Starts Expansion Projects and Planning for Elementary #10

Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) is the fastest-growing school district in Arizona. To accommodate that growth, the district is starting construction on planned campus additions and a new elementary school.

The new construction is funded by money awarded from the state school facilities division, which requires an extensive qualification process. QCUSD does not have bond funding for capital projects at this time. Limited funding is allocated by the state over the course of two years based on schools approaching their capacity. The additions bring a total of roughly 98,000 square feet to the district, providing more classroom space to keep class sizes reduced and serve the community’s rapidly-growing population.

• Eastmark High School: Construction is underway for Eastmark’s junior high wing, a 39,919 square foot building that will add 23 classrooms to the school campus. This wing is a continuation of the final phase for the school’s planned campus and will be open in July 2024.
• Crismon High School: Construction is also underway for phase II of Crismon High, a two-story junior high building that will add 18 new classrooms for the school. This building will open in July 2024.
• Gateway Polytechnic Academy: A two-story, 12-classroom addition will be added to the Gateway Polytechnic campus opening in July 2024.
• Schnepf Elementary: The Schnepf campus will receive an additional 14 classrooms with the expansion, adding 18,332 square feet of space opening in July 2024.
• Elementary #10: A new elementary school is in its planning stages and will be located near the intersection of East Galveston Street and South Mountain Road. Set to open in the 2025–2026 school year, the school will serve the district’s northern area which has seen rapid growth and development in the last five years.
