Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) is filled with incredible teachers and staff. Some of these teachers and staff members are Veterans, including Kristi Moran, a teacher at Jack Barnes Elementary who served in the United States Navy for just under 10 years. Teachers like Moran inspire students and bring a lasting legacy to QCUSD.
“One of the skills I learned in the Navy was to “adapt and overcome,” shares Moran. Talking about her time in the United States Navy, she also cites how “courage and commitment are also values that were instilled in me.” Moran brings these values to her classroom and school culture as well. “Those are things I bring into the classroom and model for my students, my peers and my coworkers.”
Moran’s class loves hearing about her service and describes how her stories create a greater connection between her and her students. By sharing these stories, Moran has inspired her students. “I’ve even had students tell me that they not only want to be firefighters, but now they want to be Navy firefighters!”
Her desire to serve her country did not stop after the Navy. Moran loves teaching, saying, “My class is amazing! I always have the best classes. I’ve been here in Queen Creek for six years, and every year I get the best class.”
Teachers like Moran fill schools like Jack Barnes Elementary with patriotism and a desire to look beyond themselves. QCUSD is proud to be a home for United States Veterans.
