Crismon High Coach is a Finalist for Strength Coach of the Year
The National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA) has selected four finalists for the 2024 National Coach of the Year, with one of the finalists being Crismon High School strength training coach, Ben Brandau.
This annual award recognizes the achievements of the chosen High School Strength and Conditioning Coach and their passion for the profession. The National Coach of the Year is selected from among the top coaches across the country and receives a unique, personalized Coach of the Year Belt.
Brandau has been a member of the NHSSCA for over 22 years and has previously won the Arizona State Coach of the Year in 2021.
“To be a finalist, after 22 years of doing this, it’s kind of like a pat on the back,” says Brandau.
While Coach Brandau is thrilled to be a finalist on a national ranking, he shares what has been one of the more meaningful moments in his coaching career.
“When the news went out on social media,” explains Brandau. “I got text messages and emails and DMs just from kids that are now 38 years old that are saying stuff like ‘I appreciate what you’ve done.’ You don’t get compliments like that every day.”
The announcement of the 2024 winner will be in late December.
