Megan Perry, science teacher, drama club sponsor, and PBIS site lead at Newell Barney College Prep, brings positivity, creativity, and a passion for student growth to everything she does.
“I try to live by the motto: Life is an echo. What you send out comes back,” Perry said. “So, I try to approach everything with positivity, optimism, and hard work.”
In her classroom, Perry encourages students to take ownership of their learning. Rather than always following a traditional teaching approach, she sees herself as a facilitator and resource, helping students guide their own educational experiences.
Outside the classroom, Perry enjoys sponsoring drama club, which gives students an opportunity to showcase talents beyond academics.
“Drama club is the best,” she said. “It’s a really great way to see a different side of a student that isn’t just academic. It’s social, it’s creative, it’s problem-solving and thinking. It’s a lot of fun.”
Perry is also quick to recognize the people who make Newell Barney special.
“The staff at Newell Barney are some of the most dedicated, hardworking people I know. They step up every day for our students,” she said.
With high expectations, Newell Barney helps students develop the skills they need for the future. “They leave our school organized, self-starters who can think critically and communicate,” Perry said.
After her time at Newell Barney, Perry feels fortunate to be part of QCUSD. “Queen Creek’s a growing district, so there’s going to be opportunities for you. And if my experience at Newell Barney has told me anything, I’ve got a pretty good gig.”
