A key feature of Frances Brandon Pickett Elementary School (FBPE) is the school’s commitment to building strong connections between families and the school community. One event that highlights this is the annual Picnic at Pickett, where families have the opportunity to meet one another and connect with teachers and staff in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
FBPE prides itself on creating a school culture where students and families feel supported and involved. Events like Picnic at Pickett help strengthen that sense of belonging while giving families a chance to experience the vibrant community that makes the school special.
“This is our second year here, and I really love the teachers. I also love the sense of community and all the activities the school puts on. There’s always something going on, and it’s just a really great environment,” stated Kaitlin Ferguson, a FBPE parent.
Another parent, Julia Orban, shares, “I think it’s a great opportunity for parents to come and enjoy activities with their kids. It allows us to experience what they get to do during the school day and share in the fun with them. Events like this are always enjoyable, and the school hosts many activities like this throughout the year.”
For many families, Pickett offers a balance of academic excellence and a welcoming community atmosphere.
Kaitlin Ferguson continues, “I love that the school has a strong community feel, but it’s also very academic. It’s a great balance of learning and fun. It almost feels a little magical, if that makes sense.”
When asked why families should consider the school, Julia Orban shared her encouragement for prospective families.
“I would encourage anybody who’s considering Pickett to come here. I actually started my kids in the preschool program at Queen Creek Elementary before they even entered kindergarten. The teachers, staff, and everyone involved are very welcoming and supportive.”
Through events like Picnic at Pickett, Frances Brandon Pickett Elementary continues to create meaningful opportunities for families to connect, celebrate, and be part of a supportive school community.
