Facts Matter – CTE Satellite Funding at Queen Creek Unified School District

Last night Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) held a meeting to discuss EVIT’s proposed funding cuts to the CTE satellite programs. We believe our community deserves to know what’s at stake and why an agreement hasn’t been reached.

Our QCUSD Governing Board’s first priority is our students. EVIT’s proposal would take a significant amount of funding away from QCUSD kids in CTE classes on our own campuses — money that should stay here for our teachers, equipment, and programs.

Our district’s CTE classes are not an afterthought — they are high-quality, in-demand programs that allow students to learn career-ready skills without having to leave their own campus. Under EVIT’s plan, those programs would be underfunded, forcing our students to do without essential resources, updated technology, and opportunities they deserve.

This isn’t just about a signature on an agreement. It’s about the fair and equitable distribution of taxpayer dollars so every student gets the resources they deserve.

Our Board and leadership are standing up for QCUSD students. We cannot agree to a proposal that undermines our ability to deliver the very programs our community counts on.

QCUSD has always been open to working collaboratively with EVIT — alongside our eight partner districts — to make sure all students are treated fairly. We are more than willing to meet as a group to keep the process transparent, consistent, and focused on what’s best for every district. EVIT’s push for separate agreements with each district risks creating unfair differences and weakening the collaboration that has worked for years.

The real collaboration EVIT should be engaging in is working with all partner districts to ensure funding is shared fairly. Anything less is not in the best interest of all Arizona students. We will continue to share the facts and keep you informed each step of the way.
