Building Stronger Schools Through Community Partnerships

At Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD), the success of students, teachers, and staff is strengthened by the powerful partnerships built with local businesses. This commitment was on full display at QCUSD’s recent quarterly business partner breakfast, sponsored by Banner Health. The event brought together community leaders, business owners, and educators to celebrate the impact of collaboration while exploring new ways to support student learning and achievement.

For businesses like SBI Education Environments, the connection to schools is about more than just products. “SBI always wants to support our kids and our schools and the great work that they do,” said Michele Sordahl, representing the company. “Kids cannot learn unless they have a good desk, a good chair, and a good place to sit and learn. We aim to provide fun and flexible environments where students feel comfortable, proud of their school, and excited to learn.” By creating welcoming spaces, SBI not only equips classrooms but also cultivates student pride, parent confidence, and staff satisfaction.

For others, like Mather Brothers Inc., the motivation to give back comes from community ties. “We are motivated to give back to the community that supports us,” said owner Todd Mather. “We donate water for heat waves, ice for sporting events, and even create snow scenes for schools and neighborhoods. For us, it is about relationships. We value each customer, and we still believe in old-school service and building trust.” Mather emphasized that the breakfast is unique because it brings together diverse businesses that share the goal of making QCUSD one of the top districts in Arizona.

The business partner breakfast highlighted how local businesses directly impact student experiences and teacher success, whether through classroom furniture, event support, or essential resources. It also offered a chance for business leaders to network, discover shared values, and deepen their connection to education in Queen Creek.

QCUSD is grateful to Banner Health for sponsoring the event and supporting a districtwide culture of collaboration. As Sordahl shared, “You get to see everybody within the community and how they are supporting schools. It is inspiring to be part of it.”

Local businesses play a vital role in shaping the future of education. QCUSD invites more organizations to join in partnership, make a difference in classrooms, and help ensure students continue to thrive.
