Two Queen Creek Migrant Education Students Receive A $1,500 Scholarship To Continue With Their Education

The Arizona Interagency Farmworkers Coalition (AIFC) was formed over 20 years ago as a collaboration between organizations in Arizona that endeavors to partner with and act as a resource for those serving the farmworker population.

One of our main goals has been to raise money for scholarships to give to high school kids in migrant education programs that plan on attending college. Each application is carefully reviewed by a committee, and the awards are handed out at a special scholarship dinner at our annual conference.

This year, at the 2016 AIFC, Inc. Educational Conference, 11 students received a $1,500 scholarship in Prescott, Arizona. Two of these students were from the Queen Creek migrant education program: Berenice Zendejas and Karla Osiris Serna.

    Congratulations!

    Back to School Supplies Drive

Firefighters in Queen Creek collected $1500 to buy school supplies for the Family Resource Center in the Queen Creek Unified School District. The supplies will also go to kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Queen Creek. This is the second year the Queen Creek Fire and Medical staff collected money to buy school supplies for students in the southeast valley. Last year, the department collected about $1000.
