These may include three-dimensional objects, posters, paintings, drawings, artist books, artist videos, slides and etc. Course Materials: Students will be expected to bring a number 2 yellow pencil and a small notebook or sketchbook to class each day. Course Objectives *Students will learn contour line *Students will learn value *Students will learn open and closed composition *Students will learn the elements and principles of design *Students will learn color theory Course Description The class will be based on two-dimensional work. Students will be working with a variety of media; including graphite, colored pencil, pastel and pen/ink. Along with actual production work, students will be researching and writing about various artists viewing art related films, slides, articles, worksheets and several visuals. Students will be introduced to the elements and principles of design. Grading System: Students will be graded on completed projects using a 4.0 grading system. 4.0-3.8=A 3.7-3.6=A- 3.5-3.3=B+ 3.0=B 2.8=B- 2.5=C+ 2.0=C 1.8=C- 1.5=D+ 1.0=D .08=D- .05=F Major Projects: 160-157=A+ 156-151=A 150-145=A- 144-140=B+ 139-134=B 133-130=B- 129-125=C+ 124-119=C 118-116=C- 114-110=D+ 109-104=103-100=D- 99-Below=F Daily participation and good behavior are equally stressed. Late Work Policy: Students will be responsible for making up tests, quizzes and work-time on production pieces if they are absent. It will be the responsibility of the student to contact the teacher for instructions to do so. Classroom Management Plan: Students will be expected to follow the school-wide management plan for procedures included in their handbook. ALL ELECTRONICAL DEVICES, FOOD AND DRINK (EXCEPT WATER) SHOULD BE STRORED AWAY AND NOT VISIBLE IN THE CLASSROOM. Movie/Film Policy: Request forms will be sent home with students with a list of art related films that may be shown during the year. Parents will need to sign the forms and return them to school with the student. Students who are not permitted to view the films will have alternate work and placement during the amounted time. Safety: Students will be instructed upon and expected to use safety at all times in the art room. ID: All ID must be visible at all times! |
