Investigative Science - This yearlong course introduces students to the principles that we find in our world. It is a hands on multi-disciplinary approach to investigating science. Specifically; basic chemistry, physics, and biological concepts in order to develop the students' analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving techniques. Emphasis is placed on inquiry and hypothetical-deductive based laboratories in which the student is an active participant in the formation of the lab itself, application of the scientific principles involved, and the preparation of laboratory reports.
Biology - This yearlong course introduces students to the principles that govern living things; including microorganisms, multi-cellular plants, vertebrate and invertebrate animals (including humans). Ecological relationships will be investigated. Sensitive topics such as evolution and human reproduction may be included. Laboratory activities are an important part of the class. Dissection will be included. Basic study skills, including use of the computer will be emphasized and practiced in this class.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ELECTRONIC DIVICES, HATS, GUM, AND FOOD OR DRINK (EXCEPT WATER) ARE NEVER PERMITTED IN THE BUILDINGS & ID's MUST ALWAYS BE VISIBLE.
