  Study Hall Expectations

Study Hall Objective:  Study Hall is just that:  a place to study.  Students may read, research, or work on homework.

Strategy:  Provide an environment conducive to study.

Action Plan:

  1. Students bring their own materials to read or research, or bring homework or class assignments upon which to work.
  2. Library has materials available for students to read or use for research purposes.
  3. Library has computers available for research purposes provided the student has a current signed EIS agreement on file.  The Computer Lab may be available for research purposes on an overflow basis if a computer is available and student is “on task.”
  4. Since this is a study time and not a social hour, students will be expected to be “on task” and not socializing with fellow students.
  5. On occasion, various classes will be utilizing the Library for instruction, check out, research, etc.  Every attempt will be made to minimize distractions to Study Hall students.

Results:   Students learn to stay focused on study activity.  Due to the extra study time allowed on campus with the resources available, students will have greater opportunity to make sure quality assignments are completed in a timely fashion.

Measurements:  Students produce quality assignments, which are submitted by their due dates.

Behavior Management Plan:

Appropriate behaviors for Study Hall:

  1. Follow directions; meet expectations.
  2. Be on time; be on task.
  3. Keep body parts and materials to yourself.
  4. Come see the Librarian for questions; don't shout out.
  5. Use appropriate social school behavior:  no cussing, harassment, outbursts, temper tantrums, etc.

Consequences:

  1. Reminder warning.
  2. Conference with student and/or review above policy.
  3. Parent contact and/or ISS.
  4. Office referral.
