Accelerated Reader: Each quarter
your second grader is assigned a point goal for the Accelerated Reading
Program. The goal is based upon reading performance and discussions with the
child. It is amazing how many books that can be read if we set aside just 20
minutes each day to read. Of course, we are not measured by numbers, the
on-line AR test will determine how well the child comprehends what is being
read. Our classroom
goal is for everyone to meet their individual AR goal. |

Math Facts: In second grade, it is important
that we learn our addition and subtraction facts through the 9’s. We
frequently take timed tests to move from one set of facts to another. Please
set aside some time to practice these
facts each day. They are learned more quickly with regular and
frequent practice. |
