2 . How do we keep the fundraiser going strong? Sheryl suggested that we do some type of activity/contest with the kids. After a brief discussion, it was agreed that we will have a grade level contest. The grade level with the highest number of donations will win a pizza party. Recent fall fundraiser donations made from each household will count in this contest. The contest will run for 2 weeks beginning on 8/21/06 . Hype the week of the 14 th and have the party on Thursday, the 31 st . The use of the school marquee, continue to send flyers home and handing them out front were also mentioned for this 2 week event.
3 . For Grandparent's Day, Lori Call will sketch the photo background. It will have a rainforest theme and have cut-outs for individuals to place their heads for the photos. Book Fair is going to occur Sept. 25-29.
4 . Due to personal and professional commitments this year, Jody would like to appoint Seneca Johnson to co-chair the incentive committee with her. All board members voted unanimously to appoint Seneca. Del has recently received some information from the Phoenix Coyotes regarding incentives for our children. This would tie in with the AR goals. There are six different programs that we may choose to participate. Del will address more detail at another meeting if the program will meet our needs.
5 . Family Fun Night will take place on Wed. Sept. 27,2006 . Chipped beef sandwiches, chips and a soda will be sold. Price to be determined.
Patty presented the question of how often should we do Spirit Night? Every other month on Thursdays was decided. The first Spirit Night will be Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 . The Chik Fil A wheel will be on hand for that event as well as for Family Fun Night.
6 . Any members interested in buying their own cotton Henley may do so through Mary. The cost for members is $9.31. If your spouse would like one, add $5 to that price. When the teacher's polos arrive, Sharon would like to “package” them nicely for the teachers.
7 . Sharon was advised to start thinking of a dinner menu for teachers during the late night conferences in October.
8 . Thus far, PTO has received wish lists from Ms. Henrickson and Ms. Thompson. Each item was reviewed and will be voted on at the next meeting. Teachers will be informed that detailed wishes would make it easier for the board members to vote on their requests. Kristen also states that in some instances we may be able to use the box top /labels depending on the requests. Currently, we have 23,140 points.
9 . Kristen will start up a Box Top/Soup label contest soon since the first collection cut off is 10/31/06 (in order to receive a check in Dec. 2006). There will be one primary grade and one intermediate grade winner to earn popcorn and a movie.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Next meeting: Tues. Sept. 12, 2006 Executive meeting: 6-7p.m.
