Attendance: It is important to your child’s learning that he/she make it to school every day. Of course there may be times when your child is ill or a family emergency happens. These circumstances are understandable and I will work with you and your child to make up missed work etc. However, if you are planning a family trip and are flexible with your travel dates, please try to schedule around the school breaks. We cover a lot of content in just one day of school. It is to your child’s benefit to be there as often as possible so they don’t miss any important lessons. Tardy: Please make every effort to have your child to school on time. Unfortunately, when a child arrives late to school on a consistent basis, it disrupts the classroom morning routine. First thing in the morning we go over morning business, collect lunch money, pick lunch choices, take attendance, turn in homework and go over directions for the morning work assignment. A child who comes to school late, misses all of those important tasks and any important information I share as the teacher. Late Work: All graded assignments will be posted to Snapgrades this year for parents to view. Because of this, students will have a 2 day allotment to get any missing work in to me. This means if a worksheet is assigned on Monday, the student must have it turned in by Wednesday. Many of our assignments are completed together so as long as students pay attention in class there shouldn’t be a reason to have any missing work. Students who do have missing work will be required to either take it home for homework or stay in for recess until it is finished. If after 2 days the assignment is not turned in, it is a 0 in the grade book. This does not count for projects such as research reports where students will be given more time to work. Work Correction: I allow any work to be corrected and turned back in for a better grade. This also includes tests. However, this year I am making a change to this policy. I will not give any work to students directly to correct at their seat because I’ve learned from past experience the work rarely gets turned back in. I will make every effort to find time in the day to help students correct their work on an individual basis. If the day has ended and we’ve run out of time, I will send work home with the option to be corrected and sent back. It is to the child’s benefit to correct work because we learn best from our mistakes! Work that should be corrected will be labeled with a “P.C.” or “Fix” at the top. |
