student’s goal increased by 5 points.  Each should be reading 20 minutes nightly in addition to assigned homework and any unfinished work. Many students are working hard to memorize the multiplication tables.  Division is very difficult for those who don’t memorize the facts.   Also, I will not accept corrections for sentences for the remainder of the year.  Students must check their work.  Third grade sentences must begin with a capital and end with correct punctuation.  Sentences should be more than 5 words and make sense.  Students were prepared for this new procedure last quarter.

Daily, vocabulary words and definitions should also be practiced 5 minutes.   Your help and encouragement will enable each to meet the challenges that this quarter will present.  Sincerely, Mrs. Allison

Text Box: Students are permitted to bring a water bottle for in class use. However, it must contain water only. Third graders will have lunch at 12:05. Students will be dismissed to the playground until 12:45.

New school hours are 8:10-2:45
Students may be dropped off at 7:50
It is very disruptive to class for parents to retrieve students 10-15 minutes prior to release. This is a busy time of day as we are wrapping up lessons, writing down assignments, and preparing to leave. It is also important to realize that often during this last period of the day, we are learning social studies or science. These lessons are oral, group, participation and not available in a text book. Therefore, it is not advantageous for students to miss these lessons. I appreciate your support.

Homework:
There is homework nightly Mon-Thursday
It is to be returned the next day. Parents are expected to sign their child’s agenda indicating that homework has been completed. Agendas are given to each student at the beginning of the year. Agendas are to be brought to school daily. If your child loses the agenda the replacement cost is $3.50. Agendas are also an important communication tool between home and school. They are checked daily and you may write notes or messages to me; I will write notes to you as well.
I look forward to working with each of you. Sincerely, Mrs. Allison
