Pickett Elementary provides many programs to enrich your child’s learning.  Below you will find a list of programs and the company who makes them.

 

Renaissance Learning:

 

 

Accelerated Reader - AR’s advanced technology helps you: Make essential reading practice more effective for every student.  Personalize reading practice to each student’s current level. Manage all reading activities including read to, read with, and independent reading. Assess students’ reading with four types of quizzes: Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Textbook Quizzes. Build a lifelong love of reading and learning.

 

Accelerated Math - Accelerated Math's advanced technology helps you provide the essential practice component of your math curriculum. This classroom-proven software: Creates paper assignments tailored to each student's current level; automatically scores all math practice, including assignments and tests; provides ongoing feedback on students' daily practice; helps you differentiate instruction, addressing each student's individual needs.

 

Star Reading - Determine the reading level of each student, measure individual and class growth, and forecast results on standardized tests with the accurate, reliable, and efficient assessment students can complete in less than 10 minutes.

 

Star Math - Determine the math level of each student, measure individual and class growth, and forecast results on standardized tests with the accurate, reliable, and efficient assessment students can complete in less than 15 minutes.

 

 

Micrograms:

ABC World (PreK-2nd) - There are six letter recognition activities in ABC World. Two or more activities can be used simultaneously, and letters to be included in the activities can be restricted. Students can be given practice matching upper case letters, matching lower case letter, or matching upper case to lower case letters. They can practice identifying spoken upper case letters or spoken lower case letters. And, they can practice associating letters with beginning sounds. Another activity in ABC World is picture sequencing. Rosette, a friendly crab, helps students work through the exercises. Three or five picture sets can be selected to place in proper order

 

Chuck Wagon Bill’s Language Skills (2nd-5th) - Sixteen Activities Involving Capitalization, Punctuation, Kinds of Sentences, Subjects and Predicates, Common and Proper Nouns, Singular and Plural Nouns, Pronoun Usage, Verbs, Verb Tenses, Verb Forms, Adjectives, Adverbs, Comparisons.

 

Mathosaurus I (PreK-1) - Counting to 5, 10, and 20, Number Words to 5, 10, and 20, Matching Sets to 5 and 10, Creating Sets to 5 and 10, Comparing Sets to 5 and 10, and Counting by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's.

 

Mathosaurus II (1st-2nd) - Join Granny Bakersaurus as she helps children understand place value. Go to Volcano Motors where Big Al provides practice in comparing numbers using greater than and less than. Work with basic addition and subtraction facts at Dino Lagoon, and go to class with Professor Rex for more difficult problems.

 

Wild West Math (2nd-6th) - Four Fun Activities: Round Up Trail (10's, 100's, 1000's), Place Value Pass (To Billions), Bronc Ridin' (Basic +, -, x, / Facts) and Computation Corral (+, -, x, /).  Wild West Math helps students in grades 2 - 6 develop and refine fundamental math skills. From memorization of basic math facts to the process of long division, important math skills are exercised and strengthened by an amusing assortment of colorful characters from the American Wild West. Program activities can be adjusted to accommodate a wide range of learning needs. Tutorial help screens provide carefully structured assistance.

 

Fractions with Professor Von Strudel’s Math Lab (2nd-6th) - The professor’s classes on fractions are appropriate for a wide range of students in grades two through six. Starting with a very basic introduction to fractions and building on what is learned, students master a wide range of math curriculum goals having to do with fractions. From beginning equivalents to multiplying and dividing with mixed numerals, the professor offers carefully guided practice. Most activities contain one or more tutorial help components in which the professor clearly explains the concept or method utilized in the selected activity.

Edmark:

Bailey’s Bookhouse (PreK-2nd) - through nine playful activities, students learn about letter names and sounds, rhyming words, adjectives, how text relates to visual symbols, positional words, letter recognition, sentence building and much more.  These activities help build language concepts and thinking skills students need to communicate and make sense of the world around them.

 

Millie’s Math House (PreK-2nd) - Students build a foundation of fundamental math concepts and thinking skills. Through activities that feel like play, students explore numbers, shapes, sizes, quantities, patterns, sequencing, and new activities addressing measurement concepts and number sentences.

 

Sammy’s Science House (PreK-2nd) - Sammy helps young scientists build their understanding of biology and time concepts with two new modules that explore stages of plant development over time and looking at how different animals age.  All seven modules focus on discovering how to think like a scientist learning how to observe, analyze and test theories.

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Deluxe 16 (3rd-12th): - Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing® Deluxe 16 for Schools provides dynamic one-on-one keyboarding instruction and assessment that adapts to individual student needs at all levels. Students improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy through Mavis’s customizable lessons, challenging drills, and collection of engaging, skill-building games.

 

Microsoft Office:

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher

 

Scholastic:

Scholastic Keys - This program offers elementary students an age appropriate interface for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Inspiration Software, Inc.:

Kidspiration 2 (K-5th) - Kidspiration provides an easy way to apply the proven principles of visual learning. Students build graphic organizers by combining pictures, text and spoken words to represent thoughts and information. Younger learners develop early literacy skills, and more advanced students improve comprehension skills and better organize ideas for writing.
